Cedar Creek, Texas sets world record

Cedar Creek, Texas, USA–Mrs Pearlthe beloved giant squirrel statue and mascot of the
Berdoll Pecan Candy and Gift Companyis a 14-foot giant squirrel statue located in Cedar Creek, Texas, USA, which sets the world record for being the
The tallest squirrel statue in the worldaccording to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

“Standing 14 feet tall, Ms. Pearl invites 30 to 100 passers-by a day from the freeway to have their picture taken with her,”
Dark Atlas reports.

“If you’re wondering why she’s holding a pecan bigger than your head, it probably has something to do with the nearby Berdoll Pecan Candy & Gift Company, a family business that includes a gift shop, nut orchard pecan and an extremely adorable squirrel statue.

“She’s available 24 hours a day and although the nearby gift shop has regular opening hours, there’s an eternally available vending machine outside the shop with fresh, full-sized pecan pies replenished daily for all squirrel-inspired snacking needs.”

Originally built in August 2011 by Blue Genie Art Industries for Berdoll, Ms. Pearl was given her sassy name by a customer as part of a competition. In 2015, the squirrel goddess received a facelift in the form of a fresh coat of paint as well as a bridge to support her many worshippers.

FUN FACTS

“My name was given to me by a client of
Berdoll Pecan Candy and Gift Company. There was a contest to see who could come up with the best name, and “Ms. Pearl” won. It’s sassy, fun, and suits me perfectly.

At 14 feet tall, I am the tallest squirrel statue in the world.

People take my picture between 30 and 100 times a day.

I had a facelift in June 2015. Got a fresh coat of paint and a brand new deck. It’s easy to climb up and give me a hug.

I’ve been on TV and in the press so many times I’ve lost count. TexasTripper.com, RoadsideAmerica.com and AllAcrossTexas.com are among those that introduced me.

Rare™ named me one of
“10 Weirdest Things In Texas You Have To See To Believe”.

Race car driver Rodney Sterling Jr. is one of my biggest fans. He even posed for a photo with me, holding his monkey finger.

I’m so popular that I have my own online photo gallery. Take your picture with me and send me a copy
here. I will post it in my
Gallery!

TESTIMONIALS from
travel advisor

“It might be the best marketing tool to attract people to Berdoll Pecan Candy & Gift Co. Inside, the store is full of sweets and goodies. But the fudge, though… YUM!!! The ladies were happy to provide samples and… I didn’t hesitate and bought a small pack with the intention of “sharing” with my colleagues. That didn’t happen. 😉

“We visited about a month ago and bought their 9 inch pecan pie and it was delicious. Recently we went back and our friends asked us to buy Berdoll’s 4 inch pie for them which comes in a 4 piece combo, prepackaged with a red bow on it.”

“I buy these pecans every year. They are delicious and very easy to shell. And…grown in Texas. They also make a great Christmas gift.”

“Great company. Great people to help me. Love me Berdoll pecans. Don’t cook without them! Send them to my dad every month or so…at 90+ you can have this what you want, right?”

“We came for the pecan pie vending machine and stayed for the candy samples and the gift shop inside. I was a bit disappointed to see they only had large pies from the vending machine so we ended up walking into the store to buy a box of 4 smaller pies. There were many samples of the different types of nuts and candies and a variety of souvenirs. The staff were helpful and friendly.

The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the
the biggest squirrel is the Indian or Malabar giant squirrel (Ratufa indica), endemic to the deciduous and moist evergreen forests of peninsular India. It can reach 1 m in total length, two-thirds of which is its long, bushy tail.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS has also recognized the world record for
largest collection of squirrel-related items;
it is owned by Pavel Gerasimov and consists of 1,103 items as of October 14, 2013. Pavel Gerasimov’s collection consists of a variety of squirrel statuettes. One statuette dates from the 19th century and another is entirely in gold.
